St. Croix County Wisconsin Real Estate Market Update, June 2026

If you've been wondering whether now is a good time to buy or sell a home in St. Croix County, you're not alone. As we move into the heart of the summer real estate season, we're continuing to see a market that remains active while becoming a little more balanced than it was over the past few years.

Well priced homes are still attracting strong interest, but buyers have more options than they did during the height of the competitive market. That means pricing, presentation, and marketing matter more than ever. Whether you're buying your first home, moving up, downsizing, or relocating to Western Wisconsin, understanding what's happening locally can help you make the best decision.

St. Croix County Market Overview

The St. Croix County housing market has continued to show steady growth over the past month. Home values remain strong, with the county's median home price sitting around $426,000, approximately 12 percent higher than the same time last year. Homes are averaging about 43 days on the market, giving buyers slightly more time to make thoughtful decisions while still rewarding sellers who price their homes appropriately. Inventory has improved compared to recent years, creating more opportunities for buyers without dramatically slowing demand.

Overall, St. Croix County continues to be one of the strongest real estate markets in Western Wisconsin thanks to its excellent schools, growing communities, beautiful scenery, and convenient commute to the Twin Cities.

Hudson

Hudson remains one of the county's most competitive markets. Buyers continue to be drawn to its historic downtown, access to Interstate 94, St. Croix River views, and strong local amenities. Homes that are updated and priced correctly are still selling quickly, especially those under $600,000.

Luxury homes continue to perform well, although buyers at higher price points are taking a little more time before making offers. Sellers who prepare their homes well continue to see excellent results. Average home values in Hudson remain just above $500,000.

River Falls

River Falls continues to benefit from steady demand fueled by the university, growing employment opportunities, and new construction throughout the community.

Buyers have a wider selection of homes than they did a year ago, particularly in newer neighborhoods. New construction remains popular, while existing homes that are updated and move in ready continue to attract multiple showings shortly after hitting the market.

New Richmond

New Richmond continues to offer excellent value compared to neighboring communities. Buyers looking for newer homes, larger lots, and affordability continue to make New Richmond one of the fastest growing areas in the county.

Inventory has remained healthy, giving buyers additional choices while still supporting stable home values. Average home values remain around $379,000 with homes typically going under contract in about four weeks.

Somerset

Somerset continues to attract buyers looking for more space while maintaining an easy commute to the Twin Cities. Acreage properties, hobby farms, and newer subdivisions continue to generate strong interest.

The combination of affordability and recreational opportunities keeps Somerset appealing for families, retirees, and first time buyers alike.

Baldwin, Roberts, Hammond and the Surrounding Communities

Communities like Baldwin, Roberts, Hammond, North Hudson, Star Prairie, Deer Park, and Woodville continue to see consistent buyer demand.

Many buyers relocating from the Twin Cities are discovering these communities because they offer larger lots, newer construction, and excellent value while remaining within commuting distance of the metro area.

New construction also continues to play an important role throughout these communities, giving buyers additional options when existing inventory is limited.

What This Means for Buyers

Buyers have more opportunities than they did over the past several years. While competition still exists on desirable homes, today's market allows for a little more flexibility during negotiations and home inspections.

If you're considering purchasing a home, being fully pre approved and working with a local Realtor who understands neighborhood specific trends remains one of the biggest advantages you can have.

What This Means for Sellers

Sellers are still in a strong position, but the days of simply listing a home and expecting multiple offers regardless of condition have largely passed.

Today's buyers are paying close attention to pricing, condition, updates, and presentation. Professional photography, video marketing, strategic pricing, and maximum online exposure are making a significant difference in how quickly homes sell and for how much.

Homes that are clean, well maintained, and priced appropriately continue to perform exceptionally well throughout St. Croix County.

Looking Ahead

As we move further into summer, we expect buyer activity to remain steady across St. Croix County. Inventory will likely continue to increase modestly, creating additional opportunities for buyers while keeping home values stable for sellers.

Whether you're thinking about buying, selling, investing, or simply curious what your home may be worth, understanding your local market is the first step toward making a confident decision.

If you'd like a personalized market analysis for your neighborhood in Hudson, River Falls, New Richmond, Somerset, Baldwin, Roberts, Hammond, or anywhere in St. Croix County, we'd be happy to help.
